The NYU Langone Health Division of Advanced Research Technologies is seeking a Director for the Genome Technology Core Lab (GTC), a highly specialized, state-of-the art shared resource core laboratory su porting exciting research in genomics, genetics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics. The appointment will be made at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level (non-tenure, research track) in the Department of Pathology, commensurate with experience, and will join the Division of Advanced Research Technologies (DART). The Director will lead a team of eight scientists with responsibility for the efficient operation of the GTC, adapting cutting edge technologies for short-read and long-read deep sequencing and other genomic technologies, advanced techniques for single cell analysis, and downstream validation assays, as well as associated bioinformatics and data analysis. The GTC is one of sixteen core resource laboratories within DART, dedicated to providing university-wide access to technology and expertise in support of basic and translational research projects.

Responsibilities:

-Responsible for providing the most advanced technologies for genome analyses and work as a critical member of multidisciplinary project teams in support of basic and translational research projects.

-Assist researches with experimental design, planning and execution of research projects.

-Responsible for staff development and workflow management.

-Develop, evaluate, validate and deploy novel technologies in the genomics research space as they become available, and ensure a seamless integration with the Applied Bioinformatics team.

-Collaborate with investigators on project planning, grant applications, and publications.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

-Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics/Genomics, Bioinformatics or a related field plus 3-5 years of experience in Genomics.

-Deep knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of genomics technology and applications, especially deep sequencing. An understanding of genomic bioinformatics is a plus

-Proven scientific leadership in and active support of excellence in the production of high quality data.

-Self-motivated, innovative and experienced at introducing and managing change.

-Desire to participate in a collaborative, open-access environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Special attention will be given to candidates with management experience and/or a record of achievement in collaborative and shared resource environment.
